Joan Elizabeth Fradelis

Joan Elizabeth Fradelis, 76, of Shellman, Ga passed away peacefully December 6, 2024, after a short battle with cancer. She was born on August 6, 1948 in Washington D.C. she was proceeded in death by her parents Carrie Elizabeth Jordan and Carl Alvin Jordan and John Lacey. 

Joan was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, known for her deep love of her family and her devotion to animals of all kinds. She dedicated her life to this passion and was successful in breeding and showing Morgan horses. She established Mountain State Morgan’s in West Virginia and was very successful in breeding, attending and winning multiple awards showing these beautiful animals. She continued to have this passion and attended the Grand National & World Championship in Oklahoma last year, she was deeply involved in this community even after she tied up her reigns. She continued her love of animals after moving to Cuthbert Ga with her daughter and started raising small pure bred dogs. Joan met and married the love her life David Fradelis, they settled in the small town of Shellman, Ga and started DJ’s poodles that became her obsession until her passing. This passion brought joy to those around her and was her way of giving back. Joan lived out her last days traveling with the aid of her daughter, Roberta for this the family is extremely grateful. 

She is survived by, her children, Carla Kendrick-Brown (Mark) Ellaville, Ga , Roberta Davis (Ronnie) Shellman, Ga , siblings Spencer Lacey ( Janet) AZ, Ronald Lacey Shellman, Ga. Son in Law Russel Obey Smithville, Ga grandchildren, Jordan Kendrick, ( Brandon) Toccoa, Ga, Michael Andrew Brown and Jenna Brown Ellaville, Ga , Tyler Wiggins, (Shelby) Warner Robbins, Ga, Trevor Wiggins ( Tiaya) Huntsville, Al, Donnie Moore Jr Romney, Wva Madison Moore, Romney, Wva, Selena Moore, Romney, WVA Great Grandchildren, Titus Obey, Jaxton Hartman , Adalynn hartman, Brooklynn Hartman , Kinzley Clark. 

She was preceded in death by her daughter Carrie Michelle (Wiggins) Obey.

Joan never met a stranger and her extended adopted family is vast. 

A celebration of life will be held Friday, December 20, 2024 from 12:00 to 2:00 Pm at the Backporch Steak and Seafood in Shellman.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your local animal shelter.
