Joan Patricia Brown

Joan P. Brown, 83, of Albany, GA, died July 24, 2017 at Pruitt Health Care in Sylvester, GA.  Graveside funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 AM at Crown Hill Cemetery.  Pastor Bruce Smith will officiate.

A native of Saugerties, NY, Mrs. Brown was born December 12, 1933 to the late Gustav and Dorothy Knauert.  She grew up there, attended High School and Business College.  She moved to Tampa, FL in 1965 and soon after, she and her late husband and young family moved to Albany, GA.  Mrs. Brown was a terrific mother but also was employed as a bookkeeper with Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, the City of Albany and retired from the office of Dr. Paul Malsky.  She was a member of Pine Bluff Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph E. Brown, Jr.   Survivors include her children, Allen Brown of Moultrie, GA, James “J.B.” Brown and his wife, Betty of Worth County, GA, Christine Chapman of FT. Myers, FL and Alison Childs and her husband, Kevin of Lee County, GA, seven grandchildren, Gary Chapman, Melissa Chapman, Casey Brown, Chad Brown, Megan C. Weaver and her husband, Jason, Sabrina Brown, Jennifer Lockhart and her husband, Jerimiah and Brittany Irvin and several great-grandchildren. 

The family will be at the residence of Alison and Kevin Childs.
