Jimmy Ray Houston

Jimmy Ray Houston, 82, of Albany, GA, died Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at Wynfield Park Health and Rehabilitation. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, October 7, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.

Born in Early County, GA, Mr. Houston resided in Albany since 1947 moving from Lucille, GA. Jimmy graduated from Albany High School and Middle Georgia College. He was employed for many years with the United States Postal Service last serving as window clerk at the main branch on S. Slappey. He was preceded in death by his wife Hilda Cleveland Houston.

Survivors include a son Randy (Anita) Carver of Albany, GA, daughter Sandra (John) Powers of Asheville, N.C., stepson Mike Moree of Albany, GA, stepdaughter Michelle (Bubba) Slappey of Leesburg, GA, grandchildren Rachael Slappey of Albany, GA, Jason (Evie) Carver of Albany, GA, Seth Carver of Tifton, GA, Bethany Carver of Albany, GA, Lauren (Robert) Burrow of Charlotte, N.C., Katie Powers of Raleigh, NC, Kara (Jimmy) Dunn of Warner Robins, GA, and David Hendrickson of Leary, GA, and four great grandchildren Tyler and Emma Hendrickson of Leary, GA and Brad and Bryce Dunn of Warner Robins, GA.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Mathews Funeral Home.
