William Jimmy Cato, 71, of Newton, GA died Sunday, December 2, 2018 at his residence. Graveside military honors will be held Thursday, December 6, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Macedonia Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery in Miller Co., GA.

Born in Bakely, GA, Mr. Cato resided in Newton, GA for a number years. He was retired from the Army after twenty-one years of service and two tours of the Vietnam War. He was a marksman who loved guns, the USA, and was a military man to the core. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, collecting Alabama memorabilia, watching football games, playing pool in his man cave and working on his old trucks, a true builder and rebuilder of all things mechanical. Roll Tide.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Barney Cato and Mina Lee Phillips Cato and a sister, Eunie Alice Cato Jackson.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Saylor Cato, Newton, GA, a son, Jamie Cato (Catherine), Birmingham, AL, two brothers, Buck Cato (Sharon Elaine), Cantonment, FL, Jeffery Lee Cato (Renae), Newton, GA and a grandson, Carter James Cato.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.
