Jimmy Ray Austin, Sr

Jimmy Ray Austin, Sr., 78, of Albany, GA died Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Willson Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at 11:00 am at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Hilton Gillespie, Rev. Danny Thomas and Rev. Joe Miller will officiate. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.
Born in Colquitt, GA, Mr. Austin had resided in Albany, GA since 1947. He was a veteran of The Korean War serving in the Army, retired from the Department of Family and Children's Services and a member of the Albany Grace Church of the Nazarene. He was preceded in death by his parents, James O. Austin, Sr. and Theresa Everson Austin and a brother, Bill Austin.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Ann Austin, Albany, GA, sons, Jimmy Ray Austin, Jr, Scott Austin both of Fleming Island, FL, Christopher Prokesh, Leesburg, GA, a daughter, Stacy Austin Yost, Fleming Island, FL, a brother, J.O. Austin, Jr., Albany, GA, a sister Marie Annette Myers, McDonough, GA uncle and aunt, Charles and Shirley Austin, Albany, GA, twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 4, 2014 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Mathews Funeral Home.
