Jim Joseph (Joe) Saba, Jr., 88, of Albany, died Thursday, December 17, 2015 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 21, 2015 at 11:00 am at Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery. Rev. William Collins and Rev. Nate Lehman will officiate.
Born in Pelham, GA to the late Jim Joseph Saba, Sr. and Katherine Deep Saba, Mr. Saba had lived in Albany since 1929. He graduated from Albany High School in 1947, worked as a sales person for National Linen for twenty-two years and was a member of Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church. Mr. Saba was preceded in death by his grandmother, Julia Farris, parents, Jim Joseph Saba, Sr., and Katherine Deep Saba, three aunts, Emma Deep, Helen Sollis and Jaye DeVane and his uncle Fred Farris.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-five years, Eloise Fletcher Saba, of Albany, GA, three daughters Donna Goodson (Jimmy), Teresa Flahive (Joseph), and Susan Saba all of Washington DC, a brother, Jamil Saba (Donna) of Albany, GA, niece Lauren Adams of Tampa, FL, nephew Jim Saba of Albany, GA, three grandchildren Gregory Goodson (Leah) of Lindon, VA, Jason Weeks (Katie) of Salem, VA, and Corey Saba (fiance Julia Robertson) of Ashburn, VA, and three great-grandchildren, Chace Weeks of Tallahassee, FL, Joshua Weeks of Salem, VA, and Chloe Saba of Ashburn, VA, one aunt Esther Eckstein of Albany, GA, and two special people Wayne Fletcher of Albany, GA and Jimmy Lawson of Leesburg, GA.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Wynfield Park Health and Rehabilitation and Albany Community Hospice.
The family will receive friends Sunday, December 20, 2015 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Mathews Funeral Home.
