Jessie Marvin Layfield

Jessie Marvin Layfield, 92, of Albany, GA died Monday, December 2, 2013 at Willson Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, December 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Chris Turner will officiate. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.

Born in Tifton, GA, Mr. Layfield had resided in Albany since the age of seven years old and was retired from Flint River Textiles. He was a veteran of WW II serving in the Army and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife of sixty seven years, Hazel Layfield, Albany, GA, a son, Donnie Collett (Linda), Worth Co., GA, a daughter, Alice Walsh (Rick), Lee Co., GA, eight grandchildren, Zack Young (Michelle), Albany, GA, Cory Collett, Fayetteville, AR, Brittany Collett, Fayetteville, AR, Kelly Smith, Kimberly Walsh both of Lee Co., GA, Kacey O'Quinn, Baconton, GA, Carol Phillips (Rocky), Worth Co, GA, Melissa Cornell (Jeremy), Sumner, GA and seven great-grandchildren, Lexi Young, Olivia Young, Jackson O'Quinn, Jake O'Quinn, Stewart Phillips, Tony Phillips and Libby Cornell, nieces and nephews, Emily Long and Lawana Moore (Jerry), Lee Co., GA and Mac Layfield (Carol), Worth Co., GA.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at Mathews Funeral Home.

The family would like to thank Albany Community Hospice, Willson Hospice House, Jennifer Roberts, Chris Kimbrell and all of the caregivers, Dot Hall, Loutricia Ball, Easter McDaniel and Diane Salter for all that they have done.
