Jerrell L. "Jerry" Deen

Jerrell “Jerry” LaRue Deen was born on April 15, 1938 to Linton Miller Deen and Wraye M. Deen. He passed away Sunday, January 19, 2025 at his residence. The service will be held on Saturday at 2:00 pm, at the Ministry Center of Porterfield Methodist Church (located at the West end of Porterfield). The service will be conducted by Rev. Chuck Knight, Associate Pastor. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.  

Jerry married Peggy Tanner on June 5, 1958. He always said it was love at first sight. God blessed them with two children, Victor “Todd” Deen (09/15/60 - 09/27/21) and Stacy Ann Deen Stoner (Brian). They, in turn gave him two grandchildren, Kyle Deen Stoner (Kaitlin) and Taylor Lee Deen Wiggins (Clay). So loved by their Papa. God continued to shower down His blessings with great grandchildren, Walker and Ben Wiggins and Ryann and Scottie Stoner.  

Jerry’s career was spent in the automobile business. His father-in-law, Roy Tanner, and his partner owned Tanner-Free Motors. Jerry bought Free’s interest in 1972. At that time, the name was changed to Tanner-Deen Motors. Upon retirement of his father-in-law, he bought his interest, but kept the name the same. Over the years, he was involved in the Ga Automobile Association and various local civic organizations. He was an active member of Porterfield Methodist Church. A man that loved the Lord and knew where his blessings came from.  

He is survived by his sisters Judy Wingate (Ty) and Linda Bence (Jimmy). He was preceded in death by his brother Jimmy Deen (Therlus) and his sister Joye Stegall (Gary) and brother-in-law Ty Wingate.
