Jeanette Thornton Klias

Jeanette Thornton Klias, 82, of Albany, GA passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at her residence. Graveside funeral services will be conducted Friday, June 2, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Leary City Cemetery. Mr. Ross Powell will officiate.

Mrs. Klias was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Matthew (Buck) Klias, her sons, Gerald Matthew (Matt) Klias and infant  Johnny Matthew Klias, Jr., her parents, Gerald Everett Thornton and Myrtice Johnson Thornton, and a sister, Jane Thornton.

Jeanette is survived by her daughters, Laura Klias of Albany, GA and Stacey Cross (Chris) of Baker County, GA, a brother, Charles Thornton (Toni) of Albany, GA, two sisters, Annette Walter of Albany, and Geraldine Edmonds of Donalsonville, GA.

Jeanette was born on December 7, 1940 in Ohatchee, AL to parents Gerald and Myrtice Thornton. She moved to Albany as a teenager and graduated from Albany High School. Jeanette ran the office, answering phones, ordering parts, dispatching, billing, estimates and general bookkeeping for the family business, Superior Heating and Cooling. Together with her husband, they ran a successful business for over forty years.

Jeanette was an outstanding woman, mother and friend. She raised three children while running the family business. She had an office area in the kitchen so she could cook and feed the children while still answering the phones and dispatching calls. Family and friends loved her cooking and parts warehouse workers loved to see her walk in with a homemade peanut butter cake for them.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Donations to the Alzheimer's Association may be made in her honor in hopes that one day no one has to face this horrible disease at act.alz.org or Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave, Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
