Jeanene Craft Shadburn

Jeanene Craft Shadburn of Albany, GA died Sunday, August 2, 2015 at her daughter's home in Leesburg, GA. Memorial services will be conducted Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Norman Denney will officiate.

Born in Baker County, GA on December 8, 1935, the youngest of five children, Mrs. Shadburn graduated Arlington High School where she played on the basketball team and attended Berry College in Rome, GA. She moved to Albany, GA where she worked in accounting at WALB-TV. There she met Grady Shadburn who she married on December 17, 1960. She later worked in banking and at Sherwood Baptist Church as a secretary, then retired from Regions Bank as a loan processor. She loved gardening, cross-word puzzles, fishing, sewing, crocheting, and was an accomplished cook and homemaker. She sang in her church choir and taught in the children's Sunday school classes for many years. Her greatest love was for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with her family next in her heart, especially her beloved grandchildren, Amy Griffin, Eric Brenner, Kyle Brenner, Nick Jones, Matthew Lemon, and Sarah Lemon.

In her last years, Mrs. Shadburn fought a mighty battle against Alzheimer's disease with great dignity and her usual grace. She won her battle when the Lord restored her to wholeness and welcomed her into his arms. Her family would like to thank all those who helped with her care, especially her hospice nurse, Carol Roberts, RN.

Mrs. Shadburn was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Benjamin Shadburn, Jr., a son, Michael Grady Shadburn, her parents, Early Craft and Myrtle Lee Killibrew Craft and a brother, Kenneth Craft.

Survivors include three daughters, Brenda Shadburn Brenner (John), and Laura Shadburn McCart (Glen) both of Jefferson, GA, Lisa Shadburn Lemon (Ron), Macon, GA, two brothers, Wayne Craft (Olive) and Melvin Craft (Betty Jean) all of Albany, GA, a sister, Ann Newberry, Arlington, GA and six grandchildren.
