Jean Lee Ferguson

Jean Lee Ferguson, 92, of Dawson, GA passed away Monday, July 15, 2024 at Lee Co. Health and Rehabilitation. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, July 18, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Dawson. Rev. Currie Spoon and Dr. Emil Askew will officiate. Private interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Ferguson was born January 21, 1932 in Bluffton, GA. She was the daughter of the late Howard and Elline Bruner Lee. Her family moved to Dawson, GA when she was a child, and she graduated from Terrell County High School. After high school she worked as a telephone operator. She married the late Ronald Ferguson and was a homemaker for many years. She was an excellent seamstress, and enjoyed quilting and needlework. She was also known for her cooking and baking skills.

After her children were grown, she worked as a classroom aide, substitute teacher and testing coordinator in the Terrell County School System.

She was a member of The First Baptist Church of Dawson. She was a former Sunday School teacher and a choir member at Chickasawhatchee Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of sixty eight years, Ronald Ferguson, an infant daughter (Lee Ann Ferguson), daughter (Sue Ferguson), son, (Tim Ferguson), a daughter-in-law, (Austine Ferguson), granddaughter (Meredith Barfield), a son-in-law, (Marvin Waddell) and three sisters, (Ruth Fain, Bobbie Clay and Evelyn Jones).

She is survived by two children, Beverly Bowen (John) of Dawson, Ga and Russ Ferguson (Rhonda) of Leesburg, GA, grandchildren, Jamie Gallup (Earl) of Albany, GA, Karen Pritchett (Chad) of Americus, GA, Kyle Waddell of Dahlonega, GA, Clint Ferguson of Leesburg, GA, Tyler Ferguson (Aniko) of Dacula, GA, Landon Ferguson (Melanie) of Demorest, GA and Clay Ferguson (Ashley) of Leesburg, GA, great-grandchildren, Ravyn Ferguson and Mason Gallup of Albany, GA, Tanner Pritchett and Kate Pritchett of Americus, GA, Leela Ferguson of Dacula, GA, Cason Ferguson of Leesburg, GA and great-great grandchild, Levi Kolody of Albany, GA.
