Janis Lenora Norris Pierce

Janis Norris Pierce, 76, of Albany, Georgia passed away January 22, 2023 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral service will be held Friday January 27, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Byne Memorial Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Leesburg Cemetery. Rev. Mark Jackson will officiate. 

Janis was born on November 25, 1946 in Opp, AL to the late Bernard and Lenora Moody Norris. She graduated from Opp High School in 1965.

She retired after over twenty years working as the school secretary for Lee County Middle School and Kinchafoonee Primary School. Janis was a member and attended Byne Memorial Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years Willard “Gene” Pierce, her son James Michael Pierce, and a brother, Allen Norris.

Survivors include her children, Tim Pierce (Dana) of Crawfordville FL, Kristie Cooper (Heath) of Leesburg, GA, grandchildren, Shelby Pierce (Ann) of Crawfordville FL, Emma Dunkley and Dean Dunkley of Sylvester, GA. three great-grandchildren, Lakelyn Dunkley, Peyton Thomas, and Triston Poole, her siblings, Larry Norris (Tracy) Deatsville, Al, Mac Norris (Shelia) Seale, Al, Carey Norris (Wanda) Troy, AL. Sister-in-law, Jolynn Norris, Ozark, AL. and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Byne Memorial Baptist Church.
