Janice Anne Jarvis Jordan, 74, of Albany, GA, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2017 at her residence. A memorial service honoring her life will be held Saturday, November 25, 2017, at 11:00 am at Mathews Funeral Home. Mr. Ross Powell will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Janice was born February 2, 1943, to Francis J. and Alice L. (Swanson) Jarvis in Geneva, IL. She began teaching piano lessons and playing the piano for churches in 1959. Janice graduated from West Aurora High School in 1961. She then attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL, declaring a major in Organ Performance and a minor in Piano Performance. She spent two months during the summer of 1963 accompanying the Moody Bible Institute’s choir while on tour to the British Isles and Paris. She married Edward Jordan of Aurora, IL in 1964 and moved with her husband and children to Albany, GA in 1978. In Albany, she taught piano and organ lessons and was the pianist/organist for several churches for over 30 years. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband Edward M. Jordan of Albany, GA; daughters, Christine Hogan (Michael) of Albany, Susie Mullins (John) of Birmingham, AL, and Julie Hamby (John) of Jacksonville, FL; and grandchildren Katie Hogan, Matthew Hogan, Lydia Mullins, Andrew Mullins, Clayton Mullins, Alex Hamby and Jason Hamby. Janice was a lover of life, people, and animals. She was passionate about sharing her faith through music and encouragement. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, a faithful caregiver to two parents, and a friend to many family pets. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorials to the American Cancer Society, 507 W. 3rd Avenue, Suite 4, Albany, GA 31701, Moody Bible Institute at moodyglobal.org/donate/in-memory/, or TBN at tbn.org/give/donate.
