James Leroy Tyson, 92, of Albany, GA, died December 9, 2017 at Wynfield Park Health and Rehabilitation. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Billy Hanna will officiate.
A native of Cook County, GA, Mr. Tyson grew up on a farm near Sparks. He served his Country during World War II in the United States Navy aboard the USS Renshaw. Mr. Tyson lived most of his adult life in Albany and was employed with Irv Wolfe Dodge and retired as the Body Shop Manager for Wallace Chevrolet. He was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church of Albany and the Christian Laborer’s Sunday School Class. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Norman, JW and SJ Tyson, Eula B. Shealy and Lucille Sumner.
Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Dorothy Tyson of Albany, two sons, Ray Tyson of Panama City Beach, FL and Randy Tyson and his wife Evie of Albany, a sister, Marilyn Giddens of Adel, GA, two grandchildren, Cassie Dieterle and her husband, David of Marietta, GA and Kim Terry and her husband, Jason of Albany and three great-grandchildren, Brooke Dieterle, Gracie Dieterle and Jake Randall.
The family will receive friends one hour before the funeral at Mathews Funeral Home.
