James "Jim" Thomas

James Robert “Jim” Thomas, 84, of Leesburg, died Tuesday, October 31, 2017 his residence. His memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 AM at Gillionville Baptist Church. Rev. Mike Newman and Rev. Steve Posey will officiate. Born in Columbus, GA, Mr. Thomas moved to Albany, along with his wife Nancy, in 1963 and opened Albany Elevator. He served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War and was a member of Gillionville Baptist Church Survivors include his sons, James R. “Tommy” Thomas, Jr. (Terese), Leesburg, Gary Thomas (Sudie), Leesburg, daughter, Joyce Thomas Harper (Chuck), Honduras, 13 grandchildren 21 great grandchildren, brother-in-law Raymond Newman and his four-legged child and constant companion, Bear. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10 to 11 AM at Gillionville Baptist Church.
