James Milton (Pete) Stroud

James Milton (Pete) Stroud, 78, of Leesburg, GA passed away Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Willson Hospice House after a long battle with dementia. Funeral  services will be conducted Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Mr. Russell Stroud and Rev. A. B. Stroud will officiate. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery in Crisp Co., GA.

Born in Albany, GA to Joseph Pete Stroud (PaPaw) and Eva Mae Lewis Stroud (Nanny).

Pete worked the majority of his life in iron work and installing water tanks. He was passionate about his work and loved showing the different projects he had finished. He also loved fast cars and working on them in spare time. Before he retired he worked with family in fabrication and welding..

Pete was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Bimbo Stroud and Joe Stroud.

Survivors include the mother of his children and dear friend, Fay Stroud, children, Elain Long, Aleshia Hughes (Paul), Joseph Stroud (Kim), James Kevin Stroud (Lori), grandchildren, Michael Long, Jordan Long, Ashley Marie Hughes, Aubri Lynn Hughes, Kenneth James (Tyler) Hughes, Ashton Paul Hughes, Cohen Scott Hughes, Joseph Caleb Stroud, Noah Cameron Stroud, Eli Stroud, Tristan James Stroud, Riley Ann Stroud, great-grandchild, Layla-Grace Rose Hughes siblings include, Virgil Stroud, Leesburg, GA, Gloria Carlton, Doerun, GA, Phylis Benton, Brunswick, GA.     

We would like to thank the Phoebe Hospice Team for there love and kindness , compassion and making this time so much easier. Especially Kayla, Lane and Michelle.
