James T. "Jim" Rogers

James Thomas “Jim” Rogers, 82, of Lee County, GA, died April 15, 2022 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center.  A graveside memorial service will be held Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Leesburg City Cemetery.  Rev. Aaron McCulley will officiate.

Jim was born on July 3, 1939 in Albany, GA to Joel Benyon and Nancy Olivia Salter Rogers.  He attended Lee County High School and joined the USAF in 1958, serving six years in Moses Lake, WA.

Following his military service he was employed with Eastern Airlines in Atlanta for a number of years before returning to Albany as a life insurance representative and retiring in Jacksonville, FL.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Andrew Gerald Rogers and Charles Robert Rogers, both of Leesburg, GA.

He is survived by sisters Hazel Lavon “Ginger” Rogers Akridge of Americus, GA., and Nancy Joe “Sue” York of Leesburg, GA and a brother, Joel Benyon Rogers, Jr of Crestview, FL.
