James W. “Red” Hall, 91, of Cumming, GA., formerly of Albany, GA., died Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Gracemont Assisted Living in Cumming, Ga. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. The family will officiate. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post # 30 Honor Guard.
Born in Macon, Ga., and raised in Albany, GA., Mr. Hall attended school in Albany, GA. and graduated from Albany High School and the University of Georgia. He joined the United States Army and was a Paratrooper during World War II. He received his Bachelor of Business Degree from the University of Georgia and was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity.
Survivors include his children, Vicki Olsen and her husband, Gene of Dahlonega, GA., Nancy Chambless and her husband, Tommy of Albany, GA., Elaine “Lainey” Ambery of Dawsonville, GA., six grandchildren, Merry Perry and her husband, Matt of Denver, CO, Matt Brown and his wife, Amy of Dahlonega, GA., Richard Martin, Jr., of Lee County, GA., Bailey Martin Koch and her husband Jason of Woodstock, GA., Mark Ambery and his wife, Dr. Ashley Ambery, of Plainfield, IN., and Jonathan Ambery and his wife Marissa of Alpharetta, GA., ten great-grandchildren, Logan, Carver, Robert, Austin, Sarah, Watson, Zoey, Evan, Robbie and Lucy.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at Mathews Funeral Home.
The family is at the residence of Nancy and Tommy Chambless, 2319 Winchester Rd, Albany, GA.
