James B. Parr

James Barnett Parr, 79 of Albany, GA died Monday, September 10, 2012 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 am at Mathews Funeral Home. Pastor Matt Greene will officiate. Interment will follow in Oakgrove Cemetery, Arlington, GA.

A native of Blakely, GA, Mr. Parr grew up in Arlington, GA and served in the United States Army in Korea. After the war, he moved to Albany, GA, where he lived until his death. Mr. Parr was a master machinist and was employed by Gravely Corporation for thirteen years and retired from M&M Mars in 1993.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Parr of Albany, GA, a daughter, Pam Sharp and her husband Jimmy of Leesburg, GA, three sons, James B. Parr, Jr. of Tampa, FL, Joe Terry Parr and his wife Theresa of Worth Co., GA and Michael Parr and his wife, Amanda of Sumner, GA, two brothers, James Ray Parr and his wife, Dixie of New Port Richie, FL and James W. Parr and his wife, Nita of Stockbridge, GA, a sister, Shirley Hammack of Greensboro, NC, five grandchildren, Brandon Parr of Leesburg, GA, Anthony Parr of Albany, GA, Tommy Parr of Sylvester, Ashley Moody of Cobb, GA and Kailey Parr of Sumner, GA, two great-grandchildren, Sammarra Parr and Briley Moody.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home.
