James Earl Norris, 80, of 170 James Drive, Albany, GA, died July 1, 2011 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 AM at Mathews Funeral Home. Pastor Gene Snipes will officiate. Interment will follow in Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery.
A native of Iron City, GA, Mr. Norris lived in Albany for eighteen years before moving to Worth County in 1979. He had been employed as a welder with Flour-Daniel for twenty years and was last employed with KSI Construction.
Mr. Norris was a member of East Albany Baptist Church and The Loyal Order of The Moose # 1285. Until failing health did not permit him, he was an avid quail hunter, fisherman and dog trainer.
Survivors include a daughter, Gail (Coy) Jones of Omaha, NE, two sons, Johnny (Norma) Norris of Albany, GA and William Earl (Susan Madsen) Norris of Coleman, GA, a sister, Alma Humphries of Bainbridge, GA, a daughter-in-law, Kim Norris of Savannah, GA, thirteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eloise Alday Norris and a son, James Allen Norris.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home.
The family is at the residence of Martha Sue and Billy Moore, 3700 Hamilton Drive, Albany, GA, 31721.
