James Wesley Musgrove, 79, of Albany, GA, died Thursday, April 23, 2015 at Pruitt-Health Palmyra. Memorial services will be conducted Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Eric Newman will officiate.
Born in Fort Benning, GA, Mr. Musgrove had resided in Albany, GA for the past twenty four years. He had served in the US Navy for a number of years and for six years as an IC Chief assigned to the nuclear submarine USS Thomas A. Edison. After the Navy, Mr. Musgrove was employed with Merck and Co. as an electronic technician.
Mr. Musgrove was a member of Masonic Lodge # 24 F & AM, a 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason, a member of Hasan Shrine Center, The Order of the Eastern Star Crepe Myrtle #163, Boy Scout Honorary Order of The Arrow, VFW Post 15011 and had served sixteen years as the financial secretary of ICWU Local 609 of Merck. Mr. Musgrove was a member of Elmodel Presbyterian Church and was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Musgrove and Virgie Grimes Musgrove and a sister, Ashtoreth Strength.
Survivors include his wife, Betty A. Musgrove, Albany, GA, two sons, James Stephen Musgrove, Albany, GA and Jon Edwin Musgrove, Dawson, GA, a daughter, Jennifer Dawn Knighton (Tom), Albany, GA, three grandchildren, Cheynne Musgrove, Sylvester, GA, Robert Knighton and Audrey Knighton both of Albany, GA, two sisters, Caroline Taylor (Fran), Louisiana, Anne Howard (Simon), Alabama, a brother-in law, Ownie LeBarron, Jr., Saratoga Springs, New York and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers those desiring may make memorials to Shriner's Hospitals for Children c/o Hasan Shriners Transportation Fund, 1822 Palmyra Road, Albany, GA, 31701.
