James "Frank" F. Massey

James Franklin “Frank” Massey, 67, of Leesburg, GA passed away Monday, May 29, 2023. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, June 1, 2023 at 11:00 am at Mathews Funeral Home. A private interment will follow in Weston Baptist Church Cemetery.  Mr. Ross Powell will officiate.

Frank, as he was affectionately known, was born May 4, 1956 to the late Mary L. Roberts Massey and James N. Massey, Sr. of Dawson, GA. His mother named him after her great uncle, the late James Franklin Jones of Weston, GA. He graduated from Terrell County High School and moved to Albany in 1997 and settled in Lee County in 2019. Frank loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting. Frank loved spending time with his family and was a caring and giving person. He was employed with Macgregor Golf Company, Tyson Foods, and retired from White’s Seafood.

Frank was preceded in death by his wife Beatrix Schmidt Massey.

Survivors include his daughter, Kelly Massey Varnum (Chuck) of Americus, GA, step-daughter, Naomi Ward, step-son, Kevin Williams, both of Albany, GA, granddaughters, Mya and Haley Varnum, both of Americus, GA, a sister, Janice F. Walters of Leesburg, GA, a brother, James N. Massey, Jr. (Michelle) of Dawson, GA, nieces, Angela Walters of Leesburg, GA, Nicole Massey of Dawson, GA, and nephew, Robert D. Walters of Fort Worth, TX.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Mathews Funeral Home.
