James M. "Jim" Moore

James M. (Jim) Moore, 76, of Albany, GA, died Sunday, March 25, 2018 at Augusta University Hospital in Augusta, GA. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at First Free Will Baptist Church. Rev. Billy D. Hanna will officiate. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery with military honors. Born in Winnfield, LA, Mr. Moore had resided Albany, GA for 33 years prior to relocating to Lookout Mountain, GA and then Nashville, TN. In 2014, he along with his wife returned home to Albany, Ga. In 1957, Mr. Moore joined the USMC and served overseas for 1.5 years in Japan before being relocated to the Marine Corps base in Albany, GA. After an honorable discharge in 1964, Mr. Moore became a firefighter and served the City of Albany for 22 years retiring with the rank of captain. He was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Latrelle Moore, Albany, GA, a son, Doug Moore and wife Lynda, Waynesboro, GA, a daughter, Susan Moore Powell and husband Mark, Kandern , Germany, a brother, George Chandler, Ruston, LA, a sister, Jimmie Kay Chandler, Winnfield, LA and five grandchildren, Meredith Powell, Evan Powell, Trent Moore, Ethan Powell and Addison Moore. The family will receive friends Friday, March 30, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Those desiring may make memorials in memory of James M. (Jim) Moore to First Free Will Baptist Church Youth Department, 420 N. Westover Blvd., Albany, GA, 31721. Active and retired Albany firemen will serve as honorary pallbearers.
