James "Jimmy" C. Hayes

James Charles “Jimmy” Hayes, 63, of Lee County, GA, died September 28, 2017 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:00 PM at Philema Road Baptist Church. Rev. Dan Harris and Rev. Aaron McCulley will officiate. Interment will follow in Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery. Jimmy was born in Albany, attended Albany High School and lived in Warm Springs, GA for three years where he received his Business Management Degree before returning to Albany. He moved to Lee County in 1984 and was employed with and retired in 2003 from the Marine Corps Logistic Base as a Systems Analyst. Jimmy was a member of Philema Road Baptist Church and taught the Adult Sunday School Class for over twenty years. He was preceded in death by his father, William Charles Hayes. Survivors include his two children, Jimmy Hayes and his wife, Elizabeth, and Sarah Hayes Reese and her husband, Eric, all of Lee County, GA, five grandchildren, Will Hayes, Nick Hayes, Emily Reese, Hunter Reese, and Katie Reese. Other survivors include his mother, Julia “Tina” Hayes of Lee County, GA, two sisters, Becky Hayes Fabry of Lee County, GA, and Tina Hayes Nelson and her husband, Bane, of Wetumpka, AL, and six nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Friday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home.
