James "Jim" Russell Medlin, Jr.

James "Jim" Russell Medlin, Jr. of Albany, GA went home to be with his Lord Monday, January 13, 2025 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center in Americus, GA. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 23, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Albany Bible Church. Pastor-Teacher Pete Daughtry will officiate. Interment will be Friday, January 24, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Andersonville National Cemetery with COL Randy Zeegers officiating.

Jim was born in Albany to the late Russell and Patsy Medlin. After college he joined the United States Army. After serving his country for 14 years he returned to Albany to work with his father. Jim was a jack of all trades and worked in various industries. He, along with Sonny Lofton, announced football games for Lee County High School. 

Jim was an avid music enthusiast and had a massive collection of vinyl records from all genres of music. He also enjoyed collecting baseball and football cards. His family was part of the original charter members of Albany Bible Church. Jim was very active in his church and served as a deacon, treasurer, and Prep School teacher for many years. The children of the church loved him and enjoyed talking to him about his card collection.

 In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his sister, Stephanie Franks.

Jim is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jan Medlin and his son John Medlin and wife Carie.

The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. at Albany Bible Church.
