James “Jim” Russell Medlin, Jr. of Albany, GA died Monday, January 13, 2025 at Magnoila Manor Nursing Center in Americus. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 27, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at Albany Bible Church. Rev. Pete Daughtry will officiate. Interment will be Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at Andersonville National Cemetery.
Jim was born in Albany to the late Russell and Patsy Medlin. After college he joined the United States Army. After serving his country for 14 years he returned to Albany to work with his father. Jim was a jack of all trades and worked in various industries. He, along with Sonny Lofton, announced football games for Lee County High School.
Jim was an avid music enthusiast and had a massive collection of vinyl records from all genres of music. He also enjoyed collecting baseball and football cards. His family was part of the original charter members of Albany Bible Church. Jim was very active in his church and served as a deacon, treasurer, and Prep School teacher for many years. The children of the church loved him and enjoyed talking to him about his card collection.
In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his sister, Stephanie Franks.
Jim is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jan Medlin and his son John Medlin and wife Carie.
The family will receive friends at 11:00 a.m. at Albany Bible Church.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Jim to Albany Bible Church, 100 Grand Island Dr., Albany, GA 31707.
