James Hugh “Jim” Fannin, 72, of Lee County, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2018 at Willson Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 20, 2019 at 11:00 am at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Terry Siniard will officiate. Interment will follow in Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Jim was born July 15, 1946 in Montgomery, AL. He moved to Albany, GA as a child and resided there until moving to Lee County in 1997. Jim joined the United States Air Force after high school and served four years during the Vietnam War. He would later work as a Parts Manager for over ten years with Beck Motor Company and with Albany Water, Gas, and Light for twenty eight years as purchasing agent before retiring.
Jim was preceded in death by his mother Belle Hancock, his father James A. Fannin, and a son-in-law Gary Stewart. Survivors include his wife Elaine Giles Fannin of Lee County, a son James Eddie (Kristie) Fannin of Thibodaux, LA, a daughter Kimberly Stewart of Albany, GA, three grandchildren Jennifer Stewart, Logan Fannin, and Lilyanna Belle Fannin, and a sister Charlotte Fannin of Albany, GA.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 am until 11:00 am Saturday before the service at Mathews Funeral Home.
