James Edward (Ed) Carson, 85, of Americus, GA, died July 7, 2012. Graveside funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 AM at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Stephen Golden will officiate.
A native of Carnesville, GA, he was born to the late Paul Martin Carson and Leila McDonald Carson. Mr. Carson moved with his family to Americus, GA when he was ten years old and graduated from Americus High School.
He, along with brother, George, owned and operated Carson Brothers Tractor Company for many years. Mr. Carson continued to farm until his retirement. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and was a former deacon at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Carson was a charter member and served several terms on the board at Southland Academy and was also a member of the board and past chairman of the Sumter County Livestock Association.
Survivors include his wife, Cookie Carson, three daughters and their husbands, Cookie and Bobby Peacock, Carol and John Harvard and Leigh Ann and Paul Peters, all of Americus, GA, four grandchildren, Ryan Peters, Meg Peters and Carley Blount, all of Americus, GA, Christopher Harvard of Athens, GA and one great-grandchild, Addison Leigh Posey.
The family will be at the residence of Cookie and Bobby Peacock, 177 Sherwood Road, Americus, GA, 31709.
