James Douglas (Doug) Boss

James Douglas (Doug) Boss, 72, of Lee Co., GA, died Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Phoebe North Hospital. Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 19, 2015 at 3:00 P.M. at Mathews Funeral Home. Dr. William E. (Butch) Knight will officiate. Interment will follow Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at 12:30 PM at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

A native of Chickamauga, GA, Mr. Boss was born to the late Enos and Rena Crisp Boss, graduated from Chattanooga Valley High School in 1961, and served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He later obtained his B.A. in Psychology, MA in Education, and Education Specialist Degree from Mercer University.

Mr. Boss lived in Houston County, GA from 1967 until 2003. He was employed as an elementary educator in Houston Co., and was also an ordained minister, serving several churches in the Middle Georgia area for 35 years in full and part-time capacities. Mr. Boss moved to Albany, GA in 2003. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Albany and the Adult 5 Sunday School Class. Mr. Boss was preceded in death by a sister, Alva (Dob) Gilley, and a brother, Donald Boss.

Survivors include his wife, Connie Sue Boss, two sons, Dr. Christopher Boss (Renee) of Lexington, KY and Stephen Boss of Denver, CO, one step-son, Mark Faircloth of Albany, GA, one brother, Ronald Boss (Carol) of Salisbury, NC, two grandchildren Ethan and Isaac Boss of Lexington, KY and 2 step-grandchildren Rian Faircloth (Kristen) of Smyrna, GA, and Colby Faircloth of Carrolton, GA.

The family will receive friends one hour before the funeral on Sunday at Mathews Funeral Home.
