James Milton Bloom

James Milton Bloom (Lt. Col. USAF Ret.), 81, of Moultrie, GA, died June 20, 2016 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 PM at Southside Baptist Church in Norman Park, GA. Pastor John Myrick and Rev. Paul Peace will officiate. Interment will follow in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Climax, GA with military honors.

A native of Lincoln, NE, Mr. Bloom was born to the late Leroy H. and Minnie Louise Bloom. He graduated from Hastings High School in Hastings, NE, and joined the United States Air Force in 1955. Mr. Bloom served for over twenty three years including two tours in Vietnam, receiving the Bronze Star, the Silver Star, the Distinguished Flying Cross, and many other honors, and served as an instructor for fighter pilots. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Georgia Southwestern College.

He moved to Albany, GA in 1980 and was the general manager for Cellular One. Mr. Bloom was also the General Manager of The Albany Mall from 1982-1988, was employed with Walden and Kirkland Realtors and he and his wife owned and operated Lemstone Christian Book Store. He was a former member and President of the Kiwanis Club of Dougherty County, Past Director of The Thronateeska Heritage Foundation, was a Past Director of Troy State University and attended Southside Baptist Church in Norman Park, GA.

Survivors include his wife, Sally I. Bloom of Moultrie, GA, a son, James Michael (Nick) Bloom and his wife, Brenda, of Valdosta, GA, a daughter, Jody Bloom of Orlando, FL, a step-son, Jimbo Adams of Leesburg, GA, a step-daughter, Lindi Adams of Norman Park, GA, a sister, Jeane Woolford of Dallas, TX and two grandchildren, Alyson Adams and Abygail Adams of Leesburg, GA.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service at Southside Baptist Church.
