James Owen Barron, Jr

James Owen Barron, Jr., 69, of Albany, GA died Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at his home in Albany. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Mathews Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM immediately preceding the funeral service on Saturday. Minister Chris Ward will officiate.

Mr. Barron was born July 1, 1946 in Columbus, GA. He was the son of the late James Owen Barron, Sr. and Ammy Elizabeth Polk of Albany, GA. Mr. Barron was honorably retired at the rank of E7 or Sgt. First Class from the United States Army after serving for over twenty years. He served nineteen years and three months as a Hercules Missile Crewman and eighteen years and two months as C-E Maintenance Chief. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Five Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medals, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation with Palm, Four Overseas Service Bars, two Overseas Ribbons, four Army Commendation Medals, five Army Good Conduct Medals, and three NCO Professional Development Ribbons.

Survivors include his mother Ammy Elizabeth Polk Barron of Albany, GA, a daughter Brandy Nichole Barron and her spouse Christopher Lewis of Albany, GA, three sons, James Owen Barron, III of Covington LA, Joshua Ray Burnham and wife Hannah Marie of Fitzgerald, GA, Vy Chu and his wife Shelby of Leesburg, GA, four grandchildren Gabriel and Ty Lewis of Albany, GA, Kemp Rivers and Sutton Marie Burnham both of Fitzgerald, GA, three sisters also survive, Kathy Bullock and her husband Eddie of Albany, GA, Betty Rowell of Leesburg, GA, and Mary Finch and her husband Butch of Warner Robbins, GA.
