Jacob B. (Jake) Rowe, 93, of Albany, GA, died Friday, February 5, 2016 at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, February 8, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in the Walden Chapel. Dr. Don Adams and Rev. Scott Stanfield will officiate. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery with military honors.
Born in Alapaha, GA, Mr. Rowe had resided in Albany, GA since 1949 after his military service during WWII. Prior to the war, Mr. Rowe attended Berry College. He worked for Owens Sporting Goods in downtown Albany for 47 years. Mr. Rowe built a successful career in wholesale sporting goods working with schools in the Southeast GA region. He enjoyed his work and the many friendships he built throughout the years. Mr. Rowe was an active member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class and The First United Methodist Church. He and his wife Margaret were married 49 years.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Langford Rowe, Albany, GA, two sons, Harry Rowe (Mandy), Valdosta, GA, Richard Rowe (Susan), Simpsonville, SC, a daughter, Jill Harrison (Robin), Sugar Hill, GA, a brother, Leonard Matthews, eight grandchildren. Mallory Rowe, Kayla Rowe Cosby (Ryan), Rebecca Harrison, Elizabeth Harrison, Thomas Harrison, Amanda Rowe, Emily Rowe and Emily Passmore. He was predeceased by his first wife, Lena Rivers Rowe in 1962.
The family will receive friends Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral hour at the First United Methodist Church in the Walden Chapel.
