Jackie William Giddens, 67, of Albany, GA, died November 3, 2014 at Columbus Specialty Hospital, in Columbus, GA. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, November 7, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Erron White will officiate. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
Born in Tifton, GA. Mr. Giddens moved to Albany during his childhood. Upon graduation from Albany High School he joined the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War where he served as a machinist. He later gained employment as an electrician with the Marine Core Logistics Base in Albany, GA and completed twenty eight years of service. He was a member of Chehaw Lodge 701, American Legion post #40 in Stockbridge, GA. Mr. Giddens was preceded in death by two brothers Jimmy Ray Giddens, and Donald Giddens, two sisters Gail Dalton, and Margie Mason, two brothers-in-law Richard Bryant, and Gene Christmas, a sister-in-law Dorothy Giddens, and his parents Robert and Willie Mae Giddens.
Survivors include a brother Elroy Giddens of Anaheim, CA, three sisters Dorothy Bryant of Olive Branch, MS, Jane O'Neal (Michael) of Lancaster S.C., and Sandy Christmas of Centerville, TN and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Mathews Funeral Home one hour prior to the service.
