Jack Mason Jones, 79, of Albany, GA, passed away December 21, 2016 at his residence. A memorial visitation will be held Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at Mathews Funeral Home.
Jack was born on September 3, 1937, in Huntsville, Alabama, the son of the late Mr. & Mrs. Charles Carver (Irene Mason) Jones. Mr. Jones grew up in Dawson, Georgia, and graduated from Terrell County High School in 1956. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Florida State University in 1960. Mr. Jones and his family moved to Albany in 1978. Jack and his wife, Dotty, owned and operated Mason's Jewelers for forty-seven years.
Mr. Jones was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity at Florida State. He was a staunch Republican, and a Life Member of the National Rifle Association. He was also a former member of the Dawson Rotary Club, and the former owner of the Camelot Skeet Club in Dawson.
In addition to being a successful businessman, Mr. Jones had many avocations, most involving the outdoors. Jack was a voracious reader, and a great student of history. He was especially well-versed in American and Southern history. Jack was very excited to see the Republicans win such a convincing election in November.
Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents, and his beloved in-laws, Billy & Margaret Woodall.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Dotty (Woodall) Jones; a son, Gregg W. Jones, of Albany; a daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and David St. Germain, of Panama City Beach, Florida; and three grandchildren, Mason St. Germain and Kendall St. Germain, of Panama City Beach, and Cameron Jones, of Albany.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to The Transportation Fund, Shriners Hospitals for Children, c/o Hasan Shrine, 1822 Palmyra Road, Albany, GA, 31701, or the donor's favorite charity.
