Jack Clower Gay

Jack Clower Gay, 83, of Albany, GA, died Friday, June 14, 2013 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 17, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Acree. Rev. Gerald Purvis, Rev. Ken Baker and Mr. Bobby Hall will officiate. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Berlin, GA at 4:00 p. m..
A native of Brooks Co., GA, Mr. Gay had resided in Albany, GA for the past thirty six years. He was a farmer and manager for several plantations and was a member of The First Baptist Church of Acree. Mr. Gay was preceded in death by his father, Sam Gay, mother, Bessie Davis Gay, and a brother Raymond Gay.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Joyce Rowan Gay of Albany, GA, two daughters, Melissa Meadows of Tuttle, OK and Laquita Stanley of Gainesville, GA, a son, Chris Gay of Albany, GA, two brothers, Guy Austin Gay of Jacksonville, FL and Frank Gay of Valdosta, GA, four sisters, Mildred Sparks of Toccoa, GA, Elizabeth Glass of Hendersonville, TN, Linda Plymel of Moultrie, GA and Betty Ann Holmes of Hendersonville, TN, five grandchildren, Nicole Breeden, Shana White, Greg Meadows, Emma Rae Stanley and Anna Grace Stanley and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Sunday at Mathews Funeral Home.
