Irvin Eugene Horton, age 84, formerly of Orlando, FL, was called to be with God on Sunday, July 14, 2019 after an extended illness. He lived in the Albany area for the last ten years and was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Albany.
Irvin was born in Lakeland FL. Born April 4 1935 to Irvin Reynolds Horton and Edna Leggett Horton. He joined the Army shortly after High School and was deployed to Korea. After completing miltary service he married and moved to Nashville, Tennessee and attended Trevecca Nazarene College. After 3 years he moved his family to Gainsville, Florida and studied at the University of Florida while working at the University Press. His career spanned 60 years and several industries. He lived and worked in Orlando, FL for many years before he retired from Vaughn Press
. Survivors include his sister Betty Lou Brooks (Kevin) of Karumba, Queensland, Australia, three children Irvin Reynolds Horton (Susan) of Albany, Dr. Karen Harum (John) of Wilmington, NC, Kirby Horton (Kay) of Thomasville, GA. seven grandchildren, Hillary Parker (Daniel) of Albany, Ethan Horton of Valdosta, GA, David Harum and Christian Harum of Wilmington, NC, Melissa Horton, Lillie Horton, Rebekah Horton of Thomasville, GA, and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn.
He had a passion for the Lord that led him to serve in his church as well as the Alliance Men's International ministry, where he served as President for a number of years.
The family sincerely thanks all of you who were close to him for making his life rich and full.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 27, 11:00 a.m., at First Baptist Church Albany, 145 Oakland Pkwy, Leesburg, GA 31763.
Donations in lieu of flowers should be made to The Little Academy of First Baptist Church, Children's Ministry of First Baptist Church Albany or the Home Bound Ministry of First Baptist Church Albany.
