Irene Atkinson Cox

Irene Atkinson Cox, 91, of Lee Co., GA, died Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Seymour Southern Comforts Assisted Living in Bronwood, GA. Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Crown Hill Cemetery. Rev. Ben Steffens will officiate.

Born in Mitchell County, GA, Mrs. Cox had resided in Lee Co., GA since 1964. She was a homemaker and a member of Springhill Baptist Church. She was devoted to her family, enjoyed raising Persian cats, and was gifted at growing beautiful flowers and gardening. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cap Atkinson and Julia Crosby Atkinson, her husband, Donald Z. Cox, three brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include a daughter, Doreen C. Sterling and her husband Calvin, a grandson, Drew Sterling and his wife Kelli, Lee County, GA, and three great-grandchildren, Teagan, Cason and Bailey.
