Ida Lynn Sanders

Mrs. Ida Lynn Rouse Sanders, 87, of Athens GA, formally of Bronwood, GA,  passed away peacefully Sunday, September 22, 2024 at the Orchard of Athens. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at 11:00 Am  at Chickasawhatchee Baptist Church. Interment will follow to Cedar Hill Cemetery. Dr. Emil Askew will officiate. 

She was a native of Waresboro, Ga where she grew up and graduated from Waresboro High School. She attended ABAC and then onto Medical Technology school in Asheville, NC. She began her career as a Medical Technologist at the Dawson Hospital and later retired from Candler County Hospital. After college, she and Kenneth Sanders married and recently celebrated 64 years together. Over the years, they lived and raised their family in Dawson, Ga, and Statesboro,Ga then retired and spent the last 24 years in Bronwood,Ga. She and Ken were members of Chickasawhatchee Baptist Church in Dawson. 

Ken and Ida enjoyed many years of motorcycle road trips with friends in the Gold Wing Road Riders Association. They also enjoyed RV trips with the SOWEGA Sam’s camping club. Ida loved gardening and was a longtime Georgia Garden Club (Cherokee Rose) member. She enjoyed sewing, many crafts and cooking favorite recipes for family and church friends. Above all, Ida's favorite things were spending time with her family and playing cards, games and puzzles with her grandchildren. 

Ida was preceded in death by her parents, D.C. Rouse and Lindon Roberts Rouse; sister, Bernice Stewart (late husband Robert), and brother, Mickey Rouse.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Kenneth Sanders of Bronwood, GA; daughter, Karen Dunbar (Ron) of Milton, GA; son, Keith Sanders (Kim) of Watkinsville, GA. Grandchildren are: Miriah Frye (Michael), Emily Sanders, Jennifer Dunbar, Bennett Dunbar. Other survivors include sister-in-law, Linda Rouse of Waresboro, GA; brother, Glynn Rouse (Barbara) of Waresboro, Ga; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Chickasawhatchee Baptist Church on Wednesday, September 25 at 10:00 with the funeral service to follow at 11:00. All family and friends are invited to attend.
