Huey Carlton Wheeler, Jr.

His memorial service will be 2:00 Sunday, February 5, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Dawson.  Rev. Currie Spoon and Pastor Cecil Kenney officiating. 

Born in Americus, Huey was the son of H. C. “Carl” Wheeler and Annie Moncus Wheeler.  He spent all of his life in Dawson and he attended Terrell County High School. He attended First Baptist Church of Dawson and the Thursday morning Men’s Bible Study. 

Huey was a very talented folk potter, making all types of pottery even commissioned to create a face jug of President Jimmy Carter. 

He was preceded in death by a great grandson Adler Gryffin West. 

He is survived by his wife Anne DuPree Wheeler, daughters, Ivey Wheeler Herrington, Brooke Wheeler, Dyle Wheeler Roberts, grandchildren, Caleb Roberts (Morgan), Grayson Roberts, Carrie Anne Herrington West, Carlton Herrington (Aisha), great grandchildren Sawyer Anne West, Beckett West, Emmett Herrington, Baylor Herrington, Wheeler Roberts, brother, Eugene Wheeler (Bonnie), his former son in laws, Rick Roberts, Buster Herrington, and his four legged child Rosie. 

The family will receive friends following the service.
