Howard B. Summerell, 76, of Albany, GA, died November 17, 2016 at PruittHealth - Palmyra. Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM at Crown Hill Cemetery. Rev. Billy Hanna will officiate. Masonic Services will be conducted by the Tri-County Memorial Club and the Patriot Guard Riders will serve as Honor Guard.
A native of Burlington, NC, born to the late Howard B. and Mildred Summerell, Howard graduated from Hargrove Military Academy in Chatham, VA. He went on to attend Campbell University in Buies Creek, NC and then serve in the United States Air Force during Vietnam. In 1962, he was stationed at Albany, GA's former Turner Air Force base. From that time, Howard called Albany home. He was a life-long salesman and spent the majority of his career in the lighting industry, representing Duro-Test for more than three decades.
Howard was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Albany for more than fifty years. A 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, he was a Past Venerable Master of Albany Scottish Rite. He was a long-time member of Dougherty Lodge # 591 F & AM and of Hasan Shriners where he served on the Directors Staff for many years. He was also a former member of the Albany J.C.'s and the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia A. (Pat) Summerell.
Survivors include three children, Miloy Schwartz and her husband, Chad, Ward Summerell and his wife, Dena, and Mitch Summerell and his wife, Rebekah, his grandchildren, Bradley and Haley Summerell, Ariel Schwartz, Hope Summerell, Keaton, Landon, Trenton and Victoria Kate Summerell as well as his great-grandchildren, Lillian and Benjamin Summerell, and Howard's former wife of twelve years and mother of his children, Loyless Harris, all of Albany, GA.
