Henry Wayne Rutledge, Sr. (GySgt. U.S. Marine Corps, Ret.), 87, of Albany, GA, died December 12, 2014 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 PM at Liberty Parkway Church of God. Rev. Ralph Horne, Sr. will officiate. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery with Military Honors.
Mr. Rutledge was in the United States Army for two years and served in the United States Marine Corps for twenty five years. He was a World War II Veteran and also served during Korea and Vietnam.
He was born January 12, 1927 in Griffin, FL to Curtis and Ruth Rutledge. Mr. Rutledge was a devoted Husband, Father, and Grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Charlotte Rutledge of Albany, his daughter Vivian Lashley of Albany, his son Henry W. Rutledge, Jr. and wife Vickie of Los Angeles, California. Mr. Rutledge has five grandchildren, Monica Lashley of Albany, Jennifer Rustin and husband Greg of Albany, Victoria Carter and husband J.D. of Darien, Ga., Henry W. Rutledge III, (Bubba), and his wife Ashley of Panama City Beach, Florida and Matthew Lael Rutledge and his wife Maegan also of Panama City Beach, Florida. Mr. Rutledge has six great grandchildren. Mr. Rutledge is also survived by two brothers in law and one sister in law and a host of nephews, nieces and friends.
Mr. Rutledge attended Liberty Parkway Church of God and was a devout Christian. He enjoyed sharing his faith and beliefs with everyone. He was a man who believed in the power of prayer. He was thankful and often said, "God has been so good to me."In times of hardship he taught his family to "trust in God for He would guide them through the storms of life." One of his favorite scriptures is 2nd Corinthians 12:9- And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
As a family man he instilled his morals and values into his family. He enjoyed spending time with those he loved and having cook outs with his grandchildren. He was an avid coffee drinker and always had a good story to share. He also believed in hard work and honest sweat. Mr. Rutledge had a love for pets, which included dogs. His favorite was Rusty.

The family is at the residence of Vivian L. Lashley, 1710 W. Highland Ave., Albany, GA, 31707.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday at Mathews Funeral Home.
