Henry M. (Hank) Goodyear, Jr., 86, of Albany, GA, died April 18, 2015 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 21, at 11:00 am at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Rev. Lee Lowery will officiate. A private family interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. Henry M. (Hank) Goodyear, IV, Patrick Golden, Robert Newsome, Stephen Adams, Robby Lukasik and Francis Putney Wetherbee, III will serve as active pallbearers.
Mr. Goodyear was a native of and grew up in Cincinnati, OH. He attended Cincinnati Country Day School and Berkshire School in Sheffield, MA. He received an A.B. degree from Trinity College in Hartford, CT and a B.S. degree from Cornell University. Mr. Goodyear was a licensed Real Estate broker and a member of the Appraisal Institute of the National Association of Realtors. He was also an Accredited Farm Broker and Accredited Rural Appraiser.
Mr. Goodyear founded Plantation Services, Inc. in 1959 and served as the company's president for thirty years. He later founded Goodyear and Goodyear along with his son, Mark and has been actively associated with the company for the past twenty six years. Mr. Goodyear had been a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church for sixty two years and was very active, serving on the Vestry.
Mr. Goodyear was past president of the Albany Board of Realtors, past chairman of the Appraisal Review Committee. He was a former Director of First State Bank and Trust Company and Albany First Federal Saving and Loan Association. Mr. Goodyear served as past president and past regional vice president of the Georgia Chapter of the National Institute of Farm and Land Brokers and served as chairman of the Board of Zoning Appeals of the City of Albany, GA. He also served as past director of the Georgia Association of Real Estate Boards and the Albany Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Goodyear was a member of Doublegate Country Club and Stonebridge Country Club. He was also a former member of the Albany Kiwanis Club and had previously served on the Board of Directors for Deerfield-Windsor School in 1966.
Survivors include his wife of sixty one years, Janet C. Goodyear, his son, Henry M. (Mark) Goodyear, III, his daughters, Laura Golden and her husband, Michael and Margaret Wilson and her husband, Doug all of Albany, GA. He was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Goodyear. Survivors also include his grandchildren, Margaret Lukasik and her husband, Robby of Birmingham, AL, Mary Adams and her husband, Stephen of Atlanta, GA, Elizabeth Goodyear of Albany, GA, Patrick Golden of Tifton, GA, Hank Goodyear of Atlanta, GA, Katie Newsome of Dallas, TX and Robert Newsome of Athens, GA, and two sisters, Martha Ann Mason of Exeter, NH and Jane Goodyear Hall of Greenwich, CT.
