Hazel Kennedy Williams, 88, of Dawson, GA passed away Monday, March 25, 2024 at her residence. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, March 28, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Tommy McDonald will officiate. Interment will follow in Providence Primitive Baptist Cemetery.
Hazel was born in Moultrie, GA and raised in Albany, GA. While she lived in Albany, she volunteered at the Salvation Army and played trumpet in their band . In 1956, she moved to Virginia and volunteered as a Pink Lady at the hospital and at her local church. She was district manager at Avis Rental Cars. She loved to travel around the world with her husband, Ron. Their adventures included Russia, France, Spain, Alaska and New York City. After the death of her husband, she returned to Terrell County, GA and resided with her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Marsha Baker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon Hilton McDonald and Mary Louise Barfield McDonald, siblings, Evelyn Myers, William Lucas (Sambo) McDonald, Bud McDonald, and husbands, Arnold Lawrence Baker, Jr., Carlton Kennedy, and Ronald W. Williams.
Survivors include her son, Larry Baker and his wife Marsha, Dawson, GA, daughter, Donna Lynn Kennedy, St. Charles, VA, grandchildren, Tina Baker Rose (Deron), Donna Baker Sherman (Scott), Carla Kennedy, five great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, step-children, R. Wayne Williams, Jr., Mark T. Williams, David Williams, Stacy Williams, Stacey Moreau and Andrea Oakes, ten step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at Mathews Funeral Home.
