Hazel Harriett Layfield

Hazel Harriett Dorch Layfield, 91 of Leesburg, Georgia, formerly of Albany, Georgia died Saturday, December 19, 2015 at her daughter's residence. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 3:00 P.M. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Chris Turner will officiate. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.

Born in Sylvester, Georgia, Mrs. Layfield had resided in Albany, Ga. for almost 85 years before moving to Leesburg, Ga. She was retired from Flint River Textiles and was a member of Lighthouse Ministries Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Jessie Marvin Layfield. Her parents, Jim Edward Dorch and Inez Jackson Dorch. Siblings, Ruby Layfield, Elizabeth Huval, Grace Dorch, Etta Reames, Nell Reames and Henry Dorch.

Survivors include, a daughter, Alice Layfield Walsh, Leesburg, Ga., son, Donnie Collett (Linda), Sylvester, Ga. Grandchildren, Zack Young (Michelle) Albany, Ga, Cory Collett (Anna) and Brittney Collett both of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, Melissa Cornell and Carol (Rocky) Phillips of Sylvester, Ga. Great-grandchildren, Lexi and Olivia Young, Libby Cornell, Stewart and Tony Phillips, Mikayla Collett. Nieces and nephews, Lawana and Jerry Moore, Josh, Emma, Zoey, Landon and Grayson Moore, Emily Long, Kerri and Geoff Mills, Geoffrey and John Austin Mills, Mac and Carol Layfield, Taylor and Tyler Layfield.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at Mathews Funeral Home.
