Griffin Stephen (Steve) Stocks, Jr

Griffin Stephen (Steve) Stocks, Jr., 72, of Lee County, GA, died Tuesday, February 25, at Lee County Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 PM at St. Patrick's Episcopal Church. Rev. Jay Weldon will officiate. Interment will follow in Thundering Springs Cemetery.

Steve was a native and lifelong resident of Lee County, GA and was born to the late Griffin S. and Ellen Pye Stocks. He grew up on his families' dairy farm where he developed a love of farming, country living and hard work. Steve graduated from Lee County High School in 1959 and attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.

He was a farmer most of his life and along with his wife Cathy, they owned and operated Stocks Market on Philema Road until retiring two years ago. He loved fishing, and spending time with his family at their St. George Island home was a passion. Steve was a member of St. Patrick's Episcopal Church where he served as an usher and served on the Vestry.

Survivors include his wife Cathy Stocks of Lee County, GA, two sons, Griffin S. (Griff) Stocks, III (Leslie) of St. Simons, GA and Stephen J. (Bud) Stocks (Teresa) of Lee County, GA, a daughter, Alison Inga (Jorge) of Wellington, FL, two step-daughters, English Esway (Joe) of Bluffton, SC and Amy Hansen (Rodney) of Easley, SC and nine grandchildren, Griffin S. Stocks, IV, Sam Bennett Stocks, Nicholas Inga, Gabrielle Inga, Emilie Inga, Jacob Esway, Savannah Esway, Emma Hansen and Lilah Hansen, Scott Newell and Abby Newell.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service at St. Patrick's Episcopal Church.
