Grace King, 79, of Shelby, NC formerly of Albany, GA died February 25, 2015 at her residence. Graveside services will be held Monday at 11:00 AM at Crown Hill Cemetery in Albany, GA. Rev. Ralph Horne will officiate.
A native of Albany, GA, Mrs. King attended Albany schools. She lived in Sylvester, GA for many years, moving to St. Mary's GA in 2007 and resided there until 2012. Mrs. King then moved to North Carolina with her daughters, Ann and Debbie and her son-in-law, Robert to be near her granddaughters, Amanda King and Jodi Maloney and great-grandchildren, Hope Maloney, Isaiah Maloney, Cheyenne Maloney, Elizabeth Maloney and Olivia Nordone whom she adored.
She retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber Company after many years of employment and was a member of Liberty Parkway Church of God in Albany, GA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Hughes and Inez Hughes Layfield, a son, Johnny Paul King, and a brother, Whaley Hughes.
Survivors include her two daughters, Debbie Maloney and her husband, Robert and Ann King all of Shelby, NC, a son, Bill King of Naples, FL, her beloved brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Hazel Hughes, of Albany, GA, five grandchildren, Jason Paul Newton of Gastonia, NC, Jodi Maloney of Kings Mountain, NC, Zane Maloney of Bessemer City, NC, Amanda King of Charlotte, NC, and Jennifer Boland of Epworth, Iowa, eleven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home.
