Gladys Foxworth

Gladys Dean Foxworth, 81, of Cuthbert, GA, died May 27, 2024 at The Jo-Anne Burgin Health and Rehabilitation Center.  Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday, May 30, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Eastview Cemetery in Cuthbert.  Rev. Tom McClendon and Rev. Leaman Foxworth will officiate.  The family will receive friends before the service at the Cemetery.

Mrs. Gladys Dean Foxworth was born on March 7, 1943, in Atkinson County, Georgia. She was the fifth of 15 children born to Ottis and Henrietta Dean.

Reared in a household where a relationship with God was important, Gladys began serving the Lord at an early age. While her church membership changed over the years, she spent the last 34 years at First Baptist Church of Cuthbert. There, she was in oversight of the nursery for 34 consecutive years.

 In 1963, Virgil Foxworth took her hand in marriage, and they remained committed to each other until his death. Their union was made more complete when they welcomed their six children.

Gladys was a homemaker and was very well-loved by the community.  From the 70s through the 90s, she was the consummate babysitter, and none of her grandchildren had to be kept by anyone outside of the family.

On May 27, 2024, Gladys peacefully went to rest. The family will miss her, but we know is suffering no more. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Foxworth; her parents, Ottis and Henrietta Dean; and six siblings, Eloise Harper, Billie Sue Fountain, Lora Mae Sutton, Buddy Dean, Willie James Dean, and Jerry Dean.

Precious memories of Gladys will linger on with her six children, Teresa (Tom) Callaway, Diana Tondee, Craig Foxworth, Derrell Foxworth, Leaman (Becky) Foxworth, and Denise (Marc) Causey; her niece, Jeannie Coleman; her siblings, Latrell Dean, Pansy Crosby, Edwin Skinner, Reverend Daniel Dean, Benny Dean, Bobby Dean, Dwane Dean, and Lewis Dean; 14 grandchildren;20 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
