George Robert Roach

George Robert Roach, 79, of Lee County, peacefully passed away at Willson Hospice House, on May 1, 2024. A visitation will be held at his daughter’s residence on May 4, 2024 from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm at 269 Flowing Well Road, Leesburg, GA, 31763. 

 He was born on May 11, 1944, in Colquitt, Georgia, to the late Joe and Eunice Davis Roach. George's career was a significant part of his life. He worked at Coats and Clark for two years, where he met the love of his life, his Wife Joyce. Later, in 1973 he joined Yancy Brothers Caterpillar, formerly Carlton Company, as their welder fabricator for over three decades before retiring in 2009. His work ethic and skills left a lasting impact on those around him.
 
In his free time, George found joy in simple pleasures. He had a passion for raising and selling watermelons at the farmer's market and also enjoyed deer hunting and selling cars. 
 
George is survived by his beloved Wife of 56 years, Joyce Roach of Lee County; his son Jeff Roach of Live Oak, FL; his daughter Ginger Hodges (Chris) of Lee County, GA; grandchildren Andrea Fallin of Jesup, GA and Shelby Hodges of Dothan, AL; four great-grandchildren; as well as siblings William Roach (Della), Glenn Davis (Frankie), Maggie Camp, Dorothy Hemling (Bob), Loraine Carter (Melvyn), and Collie "Blue" Roach.
