George Russell Shuster, Jr., (MCPO, US Navy, Ret.), 83, of Albany, GA died Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Memorial services will be held Wednesday at 1:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home. Clay Miller will officiate. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Navy Honor Guard.
A native of Youngstown, OH, he was born to the late Russell George Shuster and Marion Clapperton Shuster. Mr. Shuster was a twenty six year career Navy Man and had resided in Albany, GA since 1975 after serving at his last station in Key West, FL.
After retirement, Mr. Shuster served as the Assistant Pro at Radium Springs Country Club and then was employed with Sanco Chemical Products. He was an avid golfer for many years and was a member of River Pointe Country Club.
Survivors include his wife, Minnie Ruth Shuster of Albany, GA, a son, Aaron Fulmer and his wife, Diane of Albany, GA, two daughters, Kim Thigpen and her husband, Ronnie of Lee County, GA and Sallie Mozingo Raines and her husband, Bill of Smithville, GA, three grandchildren, Joshua Fulmer, Rylee Thigpen and Dara Thigpen all of Albany, GA, a brother, Jack (Geri) Shuster of Tomah, WI and a sister, Marion Kaye Mayhew of Youngstown, OH. He was preceded in death by a sister, Darlene Rae Leiter.
The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM prior to the service at Mathews Funeral Home.
