George Paul Hester

George Paul Hester, 77, of Lee County, GA, passed away Thursday, December 24, 2015, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Memorial services will be conducted Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Lawton Sammons and Ron Holman will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Born in Soperton, GA, Paul had resided in Baker County over twenty years serving as Manager of Brookfair Plantation and later Island Pond Plantation in Wildlife Management. Upon his retirement, he and his wife moved to Lee County where they have resided for the past nine years. Paul was of the Baptist faith and was a member of First Baptist Church of Albany.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years Shirley Hester of Lee County, a son Garry Hester of Orlando, FL, a daughter Cynthia Lynn (Dan) Denton of Marietta, GA, two grandchildren, Cole Denton of Marietta, GA, and Cori Alise Hester of Orlando, FL, two brothers, Donnie Hester and Ronnie (Joan) Hester both of McRay, GA, three sisters, Grace Creech of Hazlehurst, GA, Betty (Lawton) Sammons of Cordele, GA, and Darlene Hayes of Sacramento, CA, and many nieces and nephews.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to "The Building Fund" of First Baptist Church of Albany (145 Oakland Parkway, Leesburg, GA 31763).
