George R. Davis

George R. Davis, 80, of Smithville, GA, died Monday, May 9, 2016 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Graveside services will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Smithville City Cemetery. Rev. David Messer will officiate.

Born in Parrott, GA, GA, Mr. Davis graduated from Lee County High School and attended Georgia Southwestern College and Perry Business School. He had lived in Smithville, GA since 1945 served in The United States Navy during the Korean Conflict and was a member of Smithville Baptist Church. Mr. Davis was employed with Giles Builders Supply and Shiver Lumber Company for many years. He was a member of The Smithville Men's Club, Smithville Masonic Lodge # 250 F & AM and Hasan Shriners.

Survivors include his wife Joyce Young Davis, Smithville, GA, two daughters, Karen Davis Booker and her husband, Dwight of Valrico, FL, Rana Davis Parsons and husband Shane, of Smithville, GA, five grandchildren, Tyler Booker and his wife, Erin of Plant City, FL, Taylor Booker of Tampa, FL, Shayna Ellis and her husband, Jeremy of Smithville, GA, Destiny Edwards of Leesburg, GA, Kolt Parsons and his wife, Kaitlyn of Smithville, GA, and five great-grandchildren, Gatlin Ellis, Haze Edwards, Steel Edwards, Brylyn Parsons, and Triton Parsons.

The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
